Hypoellipticity in Lund 2025
a Marcus Wallenberg symposium on sub-Riemannian geometry, spectral asymptotics and noncommutative geometry
During June 23-27, 2025, this conference takes place at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Lund University, in the Hörmander lecture room. More information about the conference can be found on the following more detailed homepage.
The conference is on hypoelliptic partial differential equations -- physical systems with the property that they run smoothly if all sources influencing the system are smooth. The conference centers around the spectral theoretic and geometric questions surrounding hypoelliptic differential operators. The main objective of the conference is to gather together experts and emerging scholars from the various communities working on hypoelliptic operators, especially sub-Riemannian geometry, spectral asymptotics and noncommutative geometry. Our aim is to create a better understanding between the various existing methods and to find joint questions driving the field forward in unison. In more concrete terms, we are expecting to discuss recent seminal results and are discussing them on a common ground. The lectures will take place in the Hörmander lecture hall at Lund University – Hörmander’s home university – during the last week of June 2025 with summer in Southern Sweden at its pinnacle.
